How it works
Your guide to CMMCSimple
CMMCSimple gathers the latest compliance news about CMMC, NIST, DFARS, and government cloud from many trusted sources into one place. Anyone can read the feed and ask the assistant. A free account lets you shape the feed around the topics you care about. Each section below gives the goal, then the exact steps.
1. Reading the latest news (no account needed)
Goal: See the newest compliance news right away.
- 1Open the CMMCSimple website in your web browser.
- 2The home page opens with a short banner and a grid of the latest headlines.
- 3Each story is a card with a headline, an image where one is available, a short summary, the source it came from, and the date.
- 4To read the full article, click its headline. The original opens in a new browser tab, so CMMCSimple stays open in your first tab.
You can do this any time without signing in.
2. Creating your free account
Goal: Unlock a feed tailored to you and a saved assistant conversation.
- 1Click Create free account. You will find it in the header and at the bottom of the home page.
- 2On the next screen, make sure the Create account tab is selected.
- 3Type your email address in the Email box.
- 4Type a password in the Password box. Your password must be at least 8 characters long.
- 5Click Create free account.
- 6When your account is ready, the site signs you in and takes you to the questions that set up your feed.
If a message says the email is already in use, switch to the Sign in tab and sign in instead (see section 4).
3. Setting up your feed (answering a few questions)
Goal: Tell CMMCSimple which news matters to you so your feed fits your work.
- 1Read each question and choose the answer that fits you. Some questions let you pick one answer; others let you pick several.
- 2For the topics question, click the box, start typing a topic, and pick it from the list. Add as many topics as you like. These are what your feed will focus on.
- 3If you want a digest by email, choose Daily or Weekly for Email me a news digest. Leave it on Never to opt out.
- 4Questions marked with a star are required. Until they are answered, the Save preferences button stays turned off and the site lists what is missing.
- 5When the required questions are answered, click Save preferences. The site saves your choices and takes you to your personal feed.
You can change any of these answers later, so it is fine to start simple.
4. Signing in to an account you already have
Goal: Get back into your account.
- 1From the home page, click Sign in.
- 2Make sure the Sign in tab is selected.
- 3Type the email address and password you used when you created your account.
- 4Click Sign in. The site takes you to your personal feed.
If the site says your email or password does not match, check both for typing mistakes and try again. If you do not have an account yet, use the Create account tab instead.
5. Reading your personal feed
Goal: See the news chosen for the topics you picked.
- 1After you sign in, you land on your feed. To return to it any time, click My feed in the menu at the top.
- 2The feed shows articles that match your topics, with the newest first.
- 3To read an article, click its headline. It opens in a new browser tab.
- 4A short note tells you whether the feed is currently filtered to your topics. If none of the recent news matches yet, the site shows the latest general news instead and says so, so you are never left with an empty page.
6. Asking the CMMCSimple Assistant
Goal: Ask questions and get answers based on the latest news.
- 1Open the Assistant from the menu. Anyone can use it, no account required.
- 2You will see a welcome message and a box at the bottom to type in.
- 3Type your question in plain English, for example, What is the latest CMMC news this week? Then press Enter or click Send.
- 4The answer appears a few words at a time as the assistant writes it. When it mentions a specific article, it includes a link to the original.
- 5As a guest you can ask a limited number of questions. Create a free account for unlimited questions and a conversation that is saved for next time.
The assistant shares news awareness, not legal or compliance advice. If it cannot find anything about your question in the news, it will say so plainly rather than guess.
7. Changing the topics in your feed
Goal: Update what your feed focuses on as your needs change.
- 1Click Preferences in the menu at the top.
- 2Your previous answers are already filled in. Change anything you want: add or remove topics, update your role or level, or change your email digest choice.
- 3Click Save preferences.
- 4The site saves your updated choices and returns you to your feed, now based on your new selections.
8. Signing out
Goal: Securely leave your account, especially on a shared computer.
- 1Click Sign out in the top right corner of the page.
- 2The site signs you out and returns you to the public home page.
To use CMMCSimple again later, sign in with your email and password.
Quick answers to common questions
- Do I have to pay?
- No. Creating an account is free.
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. CMMCSimple works in your web browser.
- Can I read the news without an account?

- For your security, sign-ins do not last forever. Simply sign in again with your email and password to continue.
- A news card will not open.
- The full article lives on the source's own website. If it does not open, that outside website may be temporarily unavailable; try again later or pick another article.
- The home page news section says it could not load.
- The news service may be briefly unavailable. Refresh the page in a moment. The rest of the site still works in the meantime.
